Our commitment

Tom's Place wants everyone to be able to read our menu, find our hours, and get in touch — whatever device or assistive technology you use. We've built this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we treat that as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time check.

What we've done

• Every part of the site can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
• A "skip to content" link lets keyboard and screen reader users bypass the header.
• Menu sections are built as proper tabs that announce themselves to screen readers and respond to arrow keys.
• Text and background colours are tested to meet or exceed the required contrast ratios.
• Images carry text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they don't add noise.
• Form fields have visible, permanent labels — not placeholder text that disappears when you type.
• Text resizes and reflows down to small screens without loss of content or horizontal scrolling.
• If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off automatically.

Known limitations

The map on our Visit page is embedded from Google Maps, and we don't control how it behaves with assistive technology. Our full address and phone number are always written out in plain text right above it, so you never need the map to find us or reach us.
